About us: CUSE & WMG

Our Uniqueness

An international communities of academic and professional systems engineers who believe in the culture of desirable technology

Chula Systems Engineering (CUSE) is located in the Faculty of Engineering (Chula Engineering), Chulalongkorn University. Currently, one of the key missions is to offer the dual degree programme to engineers and scientists who want to excel in their managerial and entrepreneurial competencies.

Our primary partner Centre is the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), the University of Warwick, which is a multidisciplinary group that has become one the largest in Europe since its inception in 1980. It is now a leading Centre for teaching, research, industrial development and consultancy in manufacturing engineering.

History of the Programme

The oldest established engineering school in Thailand

The Faculty of Engineering (Chula Engineering), Chulalongkorn University was founded in 1913 as a part of the Civil Service College by the royal proclamation of King Vajiravudh (Rama VI), who later developed the institution into a full fledged university and named it Chulalongkorn to commemorate his father. The Faculty is now the largest and best known engineering school in Thailand and offers a full range of research programmes in various engineering fields.

Since 1996, CUSE has produced several hundred Master’s degree graduates with WMG.

Since late 2014, the community of Chula Systems Engineering (CUSE) has evolved from Regional Centre for Manufacturing Systems Engineering (RCMSE) which was established in the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University in 1996. With the support of the Federation of Thai industries and the British Council, CUSE was the focal point of graduate-level teaching and research in engineering management and manufacturing systems engineering in the South-East Asian region.

CUSE offers a postgraduate programme leading to the degree of Master of Engineering in Engineering Management granted by Chulalongkorn University,

as well as a degree of Master of Science by the University of Warwick. The programme is based on the successful model at the University of Warwick which is supported by a number of leading local and international organisations. It allows the transfer of leading edge technologies and manufacturing strategies to Thai companies. Academic staff from both Warwick Manufacturing Group and Chulalongkorn University contribute their teaching and working experiences to students in the programme. The Master of Engineering award (CU) and the Master of Science award (WMG) provide truly international credibility.

Acadamic Programme: Unique Postgraduate

CUSE (Chula Systems Engineering) offers a unique postgraduate dual-degree programme which is designed primarily to develop professional managers, engineers or scientists for employment in the industry and business sectors. It leads to the degree of Master of Engineering in Engineering Management awarded by Chulalongkorn University and any of the three options of Master of Science degree awarded by the University of Warwick, namely Engineering Business Management and Supply Chain & Logistics Management.

The dual M.Eng/M.Sc. degrees from CHULA & WMG

The dual M.Eng/M.Sc. degrees are designed to develop professional managers, engineers or scientists for employment in the manufacturing and business sectors. At CUSE, we believe that manufacturing should be regarded as an integrated operation including all stages from marketing to design and production and through to final assembly together with the control and management of these processes. The integration is now possible by the effective use of both information and modern evaluation and control techniques in various business and manufacturing processes which utilise advanced technology.
